Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s roadshow was disrupted by farmers in Tarn Taran’s Noori village on Tuesday. About 200 farmers, including 50 women, were detained by the police as they raised slogans against the government.
They were released in the Khemkaran area, about 70 km from the protest spot.
Satnam Singh Manochahal, district president of the Kisan Mazdoor Sanghrsh Committee, condemned the police action, saying the protesters just wanted to meet the CM and raise their demands.
He said the police bundled them in security vehicles and took them away from the site. Meanwhile, Mann urged people not to be misled by the propaganda of the Opposition parties.
