The Indian Haven Premier League (IHPL), billed as a major tournament to unearth new cricketing talent from Kashmir, has turned out to be a scam as its organizers have fled, leaving many former international star players like Chris Gayle stranded in a hotel here due to non-payment of bills. IHPL started with great fanfare in the last week of October. was organized by Mohali-based Yuva Society.

Gayle, Devon Smith, J.C. Large billboards of former cricketers like Ryder and Shakib Al Hasan were put up at various places in the city announcing that the megastar would play alongside local players in the league, which was scheduled to end on November 8. Most of the matches were played at Bakshi Stadium and during the breaks music was played on the loudspeakers. However, the league came to an abrupt end on Saturday as the players refused to come for the matches due to non-payment of dues. The host disappeared, forcing the hoteliers to prevent the players from leaving until their dues were paid.
Gayle was one of the many players who took part in the Legends League cricket tournament in Kashmir last year. This competition is also organized by I.H.P.L. It was a private tournament but it drew huge crowds to the stadium as locals got the chance to watch international players play for the first time in almost 40 years. Yuva Society on its website I.H.P.L. used pictures of former cricketers Surendra Khanna and Ashu Dani while announcing However, he did not say whether these two had any role in the organization or not.
We have not received any payment in the competition: Umpire Melissa
This matter came to light when Melissa Juniper from England, who was playing the role of umpire in the competition, said that we have not received any payment. He said that the hotel staff had told him about the ‘missing organisers’. The police went to the hotel but there is no official word on whether the police have initiated any action or not.
Despite the presence of star players, I.H.P.L. I didn’t get a crowd
Perhaps influenced by the success of the League of Legends, Yuva Society Chairman Parminder Singh decided to join the IHPL in Kashmir. will be inspired to organize. He booked the Bakshi Stadium of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and paid the match hosting fee in advance. 8 teams were formed to play the league including Srinagar Sultans, Jammu Lions, Ladakh Heroes, Pulwama Titans, Uri Panthers, Gulmarg Royals, Patnitop Warriors and Kishtwar Giants. Each team had a former international player. However, despite the presence of Gayle and other international star players, I.H.P.L. I didn’t get a crowd. The organizers gave huge discounts on tickets and even hired the services of a local social media influencer Umar Zargar in an attempt to increase ticket sales, but to no avail. Questions are being asked as to how the youth society was allowed to use the Bakshi Stadium to host the matches despite having no previous experience of organizing such a big tournament.
My I.H.P.L. Se koi lena dena nahi hai: According to the Secretary of Sports Council
Khel Parishad Secretary Nuzhat Gul said that the organizers wanted to use this place to host the match and they had given the money. Nujahat said that my I.H.P.L. It has nothing to do with it. I was present at the opening ceremony only as a guest.
