US police accused of murder: Indian man shot dead, family claims he called for help

An Indian engineer was shot and killed by police in California, USA. The incident reportedly has sparked widespread anger among the Indian community and the deceased’s family. The family has accused the police of racial discrimination and demanded an impartial investigation into the matter.

What is the whole matter?

The incident occurred on September 3 in Santa Clara. Mohammed Nizamuddin, a 30-year-old resident of Mahbubnagar, Telangana, who worked for a tech firm in the US, allegedly attacked his roommate with a knife. Police said they responded to a report of a stabbing at a home. They said they fired shots in retaliation after seeing Nizamuddin with a knife. Nizamuddin, who was seriously injured, was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Family claims: Called for help

Nizamuddin’s family, on the other hand, has rejected the police’s claims. They say that Nizamuddin himself called the police for help before being shot. According to family members, Nizamuddin was a calm and religious man. They allege that he was unfairly dismissed from his job and had been complaining of racial harassment and pay fraud.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and the Santa Clara Police Department are conducting a joint investigation into this matter. The full extent of the incident will be revealed only after the investigation is complete.
