Uproar in Parliament over poisonous water and falling ground water in Punjab – Raghav Chadha said, the state is going through grave danger

Aam Aadmi Party MP in Rajya Sabha Raghav Chadha expressed serious concern over the deepening water crisis in Punjab and said that the state which used to save the country from starvation by providing grains, is now going through a serious threat on the front of both quantity and quality of water.

Raghav Chadha in his address mentioned the words of Guru Nanak Dev ji and said that air, water and earth have been given the status of Guru-Father-Mother, but sadly, Punjab, which is called the land of five rivers, is today struggling with poisonous water and rapidly falling ground water level. He was raising this issue at a time when Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav was debating the implementation of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Bill, 2024 in Manipur under Article 252(1).

Apart from the water crisis ,
Raghav Chadha also drew the government’s attention to issues related to health insurance. He said that common people are troubled by the arbitrariness of private hospitals and insurance companies – sometimes denying cashless treatment, sometimes rejecting even valid claims, this is open injustice to people. He said that health insurance should not be a ‘lucky gamble’ for a family, but a reliable security cover in times of trouble.
