Chandigarh, February 14, 2015: In the wake of communal disorder and law and order situation, Shiromani Akali Dal General Secretary Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra and S. Sher Singh Ghubaya today appealed the Union government to ban the release and screening of controversial movie MSG – the Messenger .
Prof. Chandumajra and Ghubaya said, “This movie has created lot of tension in the society and it should be banned immediately in interests of communal harmony. He said the main character of the movie Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has always been in headlines due to his contradictory religious plots. The promotion, marketing and release of this movie should be banned across the country to avoid any communal disharmony. Few year back Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh had deliberately created a massive controversy in the state by wearing the attire alike of 10th Guru of Sikhs which fanned communal violence in the state.”
Dr. Chandumajra cited that some states have already banned the screening of movie but at some places it has been released, which could provoke communal discord as well as law and order problem. He said banning the release or screening of film was the call of the hour to maintain peace and social harmony vis-a-vis emotional bonds amongst people of different religions and faiths.
