Punjab Roadways Buses to Remain Closed for Two Hours on April 3; Full Strike from April 7

Punjab Roadways employees and various union represnting Punjab Roadways declared that all bu stand across the state would remain closed. Additionally, a complete strike has been planned for April 7, 8, and 9.

Union leader said this strike is because of their dissatisfaction with the recently presented Punjab Budget, stating that it failed to include any provisions for the regularization of services of contractual employees.

Resham Singh Gill, president of the Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS, and PRTC Contract Workers Union, said their demands had remained unresolved for years. Discussions were held with former Chief Ministers Parkash Singh Badal, Captain Amarinder Singh, and the current Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, but no progress was made.

The unions have also demanded that the Punjab Government purchase 10,000 new buses to improve the state’s public transport system.
