In a major bonanza for flood-hit Punjab, the Centre on Tuesday will announce two major rail infrastructure projects for the border state.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and his deputy Ravneet Singh Bittu will make the announcements on the commencement of the Mohali-Rajpura rail link, a demand that has been pending for 50 years.
The ministers will also announce the commencement of Ferozepur-New Delhi Vande Bharat train which will be flagged off this week itself. The train will run through the week except Wednesdays.
Official sources said the Mohali-Rajpura Rail link will finally see the light of day. It will connect Chandigarh with Malwa region — Rajpura, Patiala, Sangrur among others.
Vande Bharat from Ferozepur to New Delhi will also connect the entire Malwa to Delhi. It will run from Ferozepur to Bathinda, Dhuri, Patiala, Ambala, to New Delhi.
