Punjab police constable threatens drug charges extorts money at gunpoint; case registered

A Police Constable in Kharar police station is accused of threatening individuals withe false drug charges and demanding money. Earlier we use to get reports of gangster extorting money through phone calls or direct threats frequently surface . This is new kind of case involving police officers misusing authority.

In another case under Zirakpur’s Dhakoli police station another Punjab Police constable has been arrested with a large consignment of drugs. Confirming the developments, Deepak Pareek, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohali, said that Constable Jasbir Singh Sandhu, posted in the PCR team of the Mohali Police, extorted Rs 1 lakh from a chemist at gunpoint, threatening to frame him in a drug case.

After this Kharar Police launched an investigation based on chemist’s complaint and during the inquiry allegations against Jasbir Sandhu were found to be true.
