People forced to leave their homes in Punjab, flood-like situation in these districts, alert issued

Due to the rain in Punjab since early morning, many cities including Jalandhar have been submerged. Flood-like conditions prevail in 5 districts of Punjab, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur and Gurdaspur. During this time, people are being forced to leave their homes. A yellow alert has been issued in Punjab till the 16th. Let us tell you that 57,000 cusecs of water was released from the Pong Dam, after which the Beas river is flowing above the danger mark. 

Let us tell you that on Wednesday, the water level of Pong Dam reached 1650 feet. After this, the flood gates were opened and water was released into the Beas river. Due to this, the Dhussi dam broke in Bhaini Kadar and Mahiwal villages of Kapurthala, after which 16 villages were flooded and the crop suffered heavy losses. Similarly, in Punjab, the areas along the rivers have been flooded. People’s fields and houses have been hit by water. Due to this, people are leaving their homes and going to safer places.
