Chandigarh November 24- Punjabi Cultural Council has appealed to the Punjab Government to declare animated 3D film “Chaar Sahibzaade” as an educational and historical movie depicting real history of the great sacrifices of four sons of tenth guru Guru Gobind Singh ji . Besides, arrange special shows of the film for students in all educational institutes to create awareness among themselves.
In the letters send to Punjab Chief Minister, Education Minister and Secretary Education, Punjabi Cultural Council Chairman Jaswant Singh Chhapa and President Harjeet Singh Grewal has said that the movie explains historical aspects of the rare and great martyrdom of Chaar Sahibzaade very well. “Though students were being taught about the history of Punjab in the textbooks but this photo realistic movie will certainly help those having less knowledge of Punjab history and Sikh culture to grasp the historical concepts. It will also through light on contributions made by prominent personalities belonging to other religions towards Sikh history thereby imbibing sprit of brotherhood among the students” they added.
The Council leaders asserted that this photo realistic digital movie making initiative would certainly encourage the tech students and research scholars besides creating job opportunities in the Pollybood and inspiring directors to explore Sikh history to produce more such movies.
Jaswant Chhapa and Harjeet Grewal also demanded that state education department as well as union information & broadcasting ministry should also include this film into the list of educational films category so that it could be shown during Children Film Festivals across the nation and urged the state government to raise the matter before union ministry in this regard.
Appreciating the move to exempt entertainment tax on this film, the Council has also sought from the Punjab government to announce a uniform film policy for such historical and educational films being produced in the state to free them from taxes to inspire Punjabi film industry. It has also demanded to facilitate with easy bank loans on the pattern of industry so that Pollywood could flourish while competing with other regional movies.
In a passionate appeal to SGPC, Jaswant Chhapa and Harjeet Grewal also demanded that the SGPC authorities should also arrange free exhibitions and film shows to the devotees in main Gurdwaras for creating awareness among general masses. They also sought to honour film producer Harry Baweja for this herculean task to demonstrate unparalleled history relating to Sahibzadas thereby motivating others to produce more such realistic movies.
