Punjab Police D.I.G. Akash Batta, who filed a bribery complaint against Harcharan Singh Bhullar, has now approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court. In his petition, Batta has claimed that he and his family are under serious threat from DIG Bhullar and his associates. He has asked the court to ensure the safety of himself and his family. During the hearing, High Court Justice Aman Chaudhary directed the Punjab government and the CBI to investigate the alleged threat to the petitioner and provide security as per law if required. In his petition, Batta said that he fears that under the influence of Bhullar, the Punjab Police may implicate him or his family in a false case or cause an accident to destroy evidence.

He said that he is the main complainant in this case, so pressure can be put on him. Central security agencies have also been requested to provide security in the petition. According to the petition, the petitioner and his family, including his wife and three minor children, are under constant threat from the DIG and his personal assistants.
