Damage to right engine of Air India A350 aircraft at Delhi airport

The right engine of an Air India A350 aircraft was damaged due to a collision with a cargo container at the Delhi airport on Wednesday morning. Sources gave this information. The airline said that the aircraft has been temporarily withdrawn from flight service for a detailed investigation and that some routes operated by the A350 aircraft may be disrupted.

“Air India has confirmed that flight AI101 from Delhi to New York (JFK) had to return to Delhi shortly after take-off due to the unexpected closure of Iran’s airspace, affecting its scheduled route,” the airline said in a statement. Upon landing in Delhi, amid thick fog, the aircraft collided with an object while en route to the terminal, resulting in damage to its right engine. According to the statement, “The aircraft was parked safely at the designated parking lot, ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew on board.”

Sources said that after landing, the cargo container collided with the right engine of the aircraft, causing significant damage to the engine. Expressing its regret for the inconvenience caused to the passengers, the airline said that it is actively taking steps to assist them besides making alternative travel arrangements and ticket refunds as per their preference.
