After a long period of relief, the corona virus is knocking once again. News of new cases of Covid-19 has started coming from many parts of the country, which has alerted the governments. New cases of infection have been reported in states like Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Kerala and Karnataka, which has alerted the health departments.

The government has issued an advisory after the recent increase in cases of corona infection in Delhi. After a gap of almost three years, 23 new cases of infection have been registered in the capital, which have been confirmed by private labs. On this, Delhi Government’s Health Minister Pankaj Singh said that there is no need to panic right now, but it is necessary to be completely cautious.
Instructions to hospitals to be prepared
The Health Department has directed all hospitals in the capital to ensure the availability of oxygen, beds, medicines, vaccines and other necessary resources. Hospitals have been asked to ensure that they have fully functional ventilators, Bi-PAP machines, oxygen concentrators and PSA units.
Genome sequencing of samples is mandatory
The government has also directed that all Covid positive samples be sent for genome sequencing at Lok Nayak Hospital to identify variants of the virus. Apart from this, daily reporting of ILI and SARI cases has been made mandatory on the Delhi State Health Data Management Portal and IHIP.
Masks and Covid etiquette are back
The new advisory recommends re-adoption of COVID appropriate behaviours such as wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining proper distance in health institutions and hospitals. Along with this, instructions have also been given to provide refresher training to the employees and to remain vigilant regarding prevention of COVID.

Dr Aviral Mathur of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said, “The JN.1 variant and its sub-variants are extremely contagious, but the symptoms are like normal flu. In such a situation, it is necessary that people should not be careless and take precautions.”

- Gujarat : 15 new Covid cases were reported in the state on Thursday.
- Haryana : Three new infected found from Gurugram and Faridabad.
- Kerala : 182 cases have been registered so far in the month of May.
- Karnataka : According to the Health Minister, there are 16 active cases in the state. A 9-month-old baby has also been found infected in Bengaluru.
