Chinese man’s thread wreaks havoc; biker dies after his throat is slit

A 45-year-old motorcyclist died in Indore on Sunday after allegedly being slit in the throat by a sharp nylon thread, police said. Nylon thread is so sharp that it can cause fatal injuries. Popularly known as “Chinese thread,” this thread has been banned by the administration. Despite this, kite-flying enthusiasts use it to cut the kites of their rivals.

Manish Lodha, in-charge of the Tilak Nagar police station, said Raghuveer Dhakad (45), who was returning home on his motorcycle, died after being slit in the throat by a sharp kite thread between Khajrana Square and Bengali Square. He said, “We received information that Dhakad died due to a slit in the throat by a Chinese thread. We are verifying this.”

The deceased’s cousin, Lal Singh, said that Dhakad’s throat was cut about two inches deep by the “Chinese thread,” and he died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. He said Dhakad was a flooring engineer and was returning home after work. However, this is not the first case of a person losing his life on the road due to a ‘Chinese manjha’ slitting his throat in the city. Officials said that on November 30, 2025, a 16-year-old boy riding a motorcycle on the bypass road died after his throat was slit by a kite string.
