Germany has announced to give military equipment and ammunition worth 500 million dollars (about 4,170 crore rupees) to Ukraine to protect it from Russian attacks. This package will be made available through weapons purchased from America. NATO chief Mark Rutte praised Wednesday’s decision, saying, “This delivery will help Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression.” Germany’s Foreign and Defense Ministries said in a joint statement that the aid would focus specifically on “important air defense capabilities,” which are needed to counter Russia’s growing airstrikes.

According to the ministry, “a growing number of civilians are being killed” in Ukraine in these attacks. Also, the Netherlands and Sweden have also announced large contributions to Ukraine. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that if Putin does not agree to end the war in Ukraine even after the US-Russia summit in Alaska on Friday, he will have to suffer “very serious consequences”. Trump’s statement came after a virtual meeting with European leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
During the meeting, Zelensky said that Putin is “faking peace” and trying to put pressure on all parts of the Ukrainian front ahead of the Alaska talks. “Russia wants to convey the message that it is capable of occupying all of Ukraine,” he alleged. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz described the meeting as “constructive and good”, saying the leaders had positive and substantive discussions. The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has not only seriously affected the security situation in Europe, but has also increased pressure on the global energy and food supply chain. NATO countries say that this kind of military cooperation will rapidly improve Ukraine’s defense capabilities and increase pressure on Russia for a ceasefire
