A strong earthquake struck Assam, shaking several northeastern states. The magnitude was 5.1 on the Richter scale

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck Assam’s Morigaon district early Monday, spreading panic in the area. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the tremor was felt around 4:17 a.m. The tremor was so strong that people were awakened from their sleep and rushed out of their homes. In many areas, the ground was felt for a few seconds, causing panic.

No reports of damage at the moment 
The good thing is that no official information has been received yet about any casualties or major damage to life or property. The administration is keeping an eye on the situation and the situation is being assessed at the local level. 

Tremors felt in many states of the Northeast
