Terror again in Pakistan: Four members of the peace committee were shot dead

Four members of a local peace committee were shot dead by unidentified assailants in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday. Officials gave this information. The incident took place in Bannu district adjacent to North Waziristan of the province. Unidentified gunmen ambushed near Majang Chowk in the district and killed members of the peace committee. After the incident, police and security forces reached the spot and cordoned off the area.

A search operation has been launched to find the attackers. The dead bodies were taken to a nearby hospital for post-mortem. Terrorist attacks have been on the rise in Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, and are mainly targeting police, personnel of law enforcement agencies and security forces. At least six policemen, including a senior officer, were killed in an explosion targeting a police vehicle in the province on Monday. A passerby who was seriously injured in the attack later died.
