Another Hindu youth has been shot dead amid ongoing violence and unrest in Bangladesh. The latest case is from Monirampur area of Jasore district, where a young man named Rana Pratap Vairagi was shot dead by unknown assailants. In the last 18 days, this is the fifth Hindu murder. It is surprising that no official statement has come out from the police regarding this incident, nor has the reason for the murder been clarified.
Earlier on Thursday, unknown miscreants had brutally attacked a Hindu businessman. The victim was identified as Chandra Das, who ran a drug store and mobile banking business. It was reported that he was attacked while returning home after closing the shop.
Atrocity committed by pulling an auto rickshaw
According to reports, Chandra Das was traveling in an auto rickshaw when the assailants stopped the vehicle and forcibly pulled him down. After this he was brutally beaten and attacked with sharp weapons. It is alleged that the assailants poured petrol on him and set him on fire. To save his life, the slave jumped into a pond located on the roadside. The assailants escaped from the spot when the people raised a noise.
Serial killings since December 18
It is being told that since another incident, Hindus are being continuously targeted by fundamentalists. On December 18, a 25-year-old Hindu youth named Deepu Chandra Das was beaten to death by a mob and finally his body was doused with petrol and set on fire.
About a week after this, on December 24, another Hindu man named Amrit Mandal was allegedly beaten to death in Pangsha town of Rajbari district. On December 31, there was an incident of a Hindu being taken away by a mob.
These continuous incidents have raised serious questions about the security of the Hindu community in Bangladesh. In local reports, the hands of fundamentalist elements are being said to be behind these murders, whose target is allegedly only the Hindu community.
