British MP, furious over sexual harassment of Sikh girl in UK, said – ‘Racism will not be tolerated’

British Sikh MP Preet Kaur Gill has condemned the incident of sexual harassment of a Sikh girl. West Midlands Police said it was investigating the attack as a racially motivated attack. Preet Kaur Gill said in her post on social media about the horrific attack in Oldbury in the West Midlands region of England on Tuesday, ‘I am extremely shocked by the horrific attack on a Sikh woman in Oldbury. It is an extremely violent act but it is also being seen as racial discrimination as the perpetrators allegedly told her ‘she doesn’t belong here.’

He said, “That’s where it is.” Our Sikh community and every community has the right to feel safe and respected. There is no place for racism and misogyny in Oldbury or anywhere else in Britain. My condolences go out to the victim, her family and the Sikh community.” The Labor MP for Birmingham Edgbaston said many people in her constituency have been contacting her saying they are scared.

Police said they received reports of a 20-year-old woman being sexually assaulted on Tame Road in Oldbury on Tuesday morning. It is being reported that two white men harassed the woman and made ‘racist comments’ at her. A statement from West Midlands Police said: “A woman has reported to us that she was assaulted in Oldbury, which we are treating as a racially motivated attack and are investigating the incident.
