Controversy over casting of Pakistani actress Hania Amir in ‘Sardarji 3’: ‘Diljit Dosanjh’s passport should be cancelled and his Indian citizenship revoked’ FWICE writes a letter to PM Modi

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh and his upcoming Punjabi movie ‘Sardarji 3’ are in the news these days. The reason for this is that Pakistani artist Hania Aamir has been included in the film. Now the Federation of Western India Cine Employees has demanded strict action against Diljit Dosanjh and the makers of his upcoming Punjabi movie ‘Sardarji 3’. The film unit has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that Diljit, producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu, Manmord Sidhu and director Amar Hundal be blacklisted from the Indian film industry. They have also demanded the cancellation of their passports and Indian citizenship.

FWICE issued a strong statement saying- ‘The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) expresses its strong condemnation and absolute outrage against Diljit Dosanjh, Gunbir Singh Sidhu, Manmod Sidhu and director Amar Hundal who have insulted the Indian film industry and disrespected national sentiment by hiring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir for their film ‘Sardar Ji 3’… We respectfully request that their passports be cancelled without delay and they be permanently barred from enjoying any rights, privileges or representation associated with Indian citizenship and national identity.’

The film body called the casting ‘a shameful betrayal of our country and its people’, especially in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack. They alleged that Hania’s inclusion was a direct violation of their ban on Pakistani artistes. FWICE called Hania a ‘vocal propagandist against India’ and accused her of mocking the Indian armed forces and defending terrorist acts following Operation Sindoor.

Last Tuesday, FWICE had also appealed to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), requesting them to refuse to grant a release certificate to ‘Sardarji 3’ in India.
