Rain Threatens to Disrupt the Match Where All on The Line Between Australia and Afghanistan

Today Second placed Australia will take on Third placed Afghanistan in Group B Champions Trophy 2025. Three teams still remain in the hunt as the Group B in the ICC Champions Trophy nears an enthralling conclusion. South Africa and Australia are the top 2 teams in group with 3 points each after them there is Afghanistan with 2 points. If today Afghanistan win’s they will almost qualify for semi-finals and Australia has to depend on other game between South Africa and England where they would love to see South Africa loosing.

But the weather condition is Lahore’s Gaddafi stadium is not looking good. Rain has already washed out two matches in Pakistan. The Aussies launched their tournament campaign with a theatrical win over England before their huge showdown with South Africa was abandoned due to the rain. On other hand Afghanistan has mixed kind of form in their first match they have beaten by South Africa but in second match they have defeated England and stun the whole cricketing world.

If today’s match get washed then both team will get one point each. In this sitauation Australia will automatically qualify for Semi Final as they will have 4 points then on other hand Afghanistan would only mathematically remain in the race.

The only statistic that would keep Afghanistan in the hunt is a possible (though not practical) heavy defeat for South Africa in their final Group B game against England on Saturday.
