The Vigilance Department once again raided the residence of Shiromani Akali Dal senior leader Bikram Majithia in Amritsar this morning. This action was taken suddenly and during this the area was completely sealed. The Vigilance team reached Majithia’s house with a heavy police force. A large number of policemen have been deployed to surround the residence and barricades have been put up on the roads of the area to stop traffic.

Even before this, investigations are going on against Bikram Majithia in various cases. So far, no statement has come from Majithia regarding this new raid, nor has any clarification been issued by the Vigilance.
It is worth noting that Punjab Vigilance had arrested Majithia from his house in Amritsar in connection with property. He is accused of having property worth more than Rs 540 crore. Majithia is currently lodged in Nabha jail. He has claimed in his petition that he has been a former cabinet minister, so he should be kept in the Orange category. He has also demanded that he should be kept in a separate barrack from convicted and undertrial prisoners so that his security is maintained. Meanwhile, Bikram Singh Majithia’s judicial custody is ending on July 19 and everyone’s eyes will be on whether the Vigilance takes Majithia’s remand again before July 19 or not.
