New Delhi, 14th October, 2016: The producer and writer of “31st October” Harry Sachdeva along with actress Soha Ali Khan and BJP MP Manoj Tiwari and DGSMC President Manjit Singh GK today led a dignified candle light march ,to seek justice for the victims of the Sikh Genocide of 1984 and to speak out in response to all those who have been opposing the film in the recent past. To support the film and the subject behind it ,the march witnessed the presence of over three hundred people, including 1984 Sikh Genocide Victim Nirpreet Kaur and many dignified personalities of the Sikh body.
The march that commenced from Bangla Sahab Jai Singh road , concluded at Jantar Mantar , a procession that attempted to shed light on those who have tremendously suffered the aftermath of the late Indira Gandhi’s assassination.It witnessed participation of more than 300 people which involved youth from across, victims of 1984, and people from different walks of life holding placards in support of ‘31stOctober’, seeking justice for 1984 and voicing their opinion loud and strong in the support of the film.
Since 31st October is a poignant thriller, that aims to depict one of those days that changed the course of Indian history and affected millions of people in the country, the makers took the opportunity to draw focus on the injustice that the victims and their families continue to face to this day.
The film recently faced a fresh PIL and a video of the film was also leaked in attempt to prove that the film is targeting a political party and hence should not be released.
Says producer Harry Sachdeva, ” We have chosen to use cinema as a catalyst to bring about a social change . I am happy to be part of this movement and would like to thank everyone who has supported us through this journey. 31st October is a human interest story and the message of the film is very clear that such genocides are no good to any individual, country or community”.
Says Soha Ali Khan, “The film is based on a true story of a sikh family and their journey against all odds for survival and having lived their life albeit on screen , it personally moves and saddens me to see the atrocities they have gone through”.
31st October is an edge-of-the-seat thriller based on the aftermath of Indira Gandhi’s assassination by her two Sikh bodyguards, which completely shook the political scenario of the country.
Produced by Magical Dreams Productions Pvt Ltd and Harry Sachdeva and directed by Shivaji Lotan Patil, 31st October stars Soha Ali Khan and Vir Das in the lead roles. The film will release on the 21st October 2016.
