After almost five years, Dobara from P.G.I. The first stage of the construction of the elevated road between Sarangpur has been completed. The Chandigarh Heritage Conservation Committee (CHCC) has approved the construction of the elevated road. P.G.I. The process was started again in the month of April to build this elevated road to reduce the pressure of increasing traffic between Sarangpur and Sarangpur. After the fresh survey conducted under this process, the complete plan for the construction of this project was sent to the Heritage Conservation Committee. Now the committee has approved this plan and sent it to the engineering department.
The drawing will be prepared and sent to Chandigarh Urban Planning Department
Chief Engineer C.B. Ojha confirms this approval from the Heritage Conservation Committee. Ojha says that the initial cost of the project has been estimated at around Rs 70 crore. The engineering department will now prepare the drawing and send it to the Chandigarh Urban Planning Department as part of the further process of making this project. After getting the approval of the drawing from the Chief Architect’s Office, if necessary, the help of the consultant will be taken. If it is not necessary, the construction of this elevated road will be awarded.
The 2020 plan was rejected in 2023
After the four lane was built to settle New Chandigarh and connect Chandigarh from Punjab to Kurali, P.G.I. Due to increasing traffic pressure between Se Sarangpur, the proposal of elevated road came out in 2020. Appointed Technical Consultant of General Highway and Infacon Private Limited. The company had submitted a detailed report to the administration about the possibilities of building this elevated road. Meanwhile, this project was stopped in 2023 due to the proposed metro corridor.
D. c. What efforts were made to start again
The matter of finding a solution to the problem of continuous increase in traffic in about 5 years was kept in the meeting of the traffic advisory committee. The suggestion of elevated road came up in the meeting. D.C. Chandigarh Nishant Kumar Yadav asked to advance the process of restarting this old project to solve this problem. Only after this, the process related to this project has been extended.
Khudda Lahaura, Khudda Jassu will emerge from above
After narrow streets, shops, schools and population in Khudda Lahoura and Khudda Jassu Bazar, most of the road has been kept elevated in view of the electricity sub station in Sarangpur. This elevated road will start from Khudda Lahoura Bridge beyond PGI and connect with the existing road near Botanical Garden in Sarangpur.
A double decker structure is proposed
Sarangpur to P.G.I. A metro corridor is also proposed on this route up to Manimajra. This has also been taken care of if there is no obstacle in the project of the elevated road in the coming days when the metro project is completed. Elevated road is 1.75 km i.e. half two km. Of which 13 roads are proposed to be elevated. If the metro corridor is not obstructed, some places of the elevated road will be double decked. That is, if one part is left for the metro corridor, then this road will be built on the other elevated part. The width will be around 19 meters.
