Angrez Singh—the first Investigating Officer (IO) and one of the key witnesses in Sidhu Moosewala murder case—passed away late Friday night after a prolonged illness.
Singh, who was serving as the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mansa Sadar police station at the time of the Punjabi singer’s assassination in May 2022, was a crucial figure in the investigation.
As one of the first responders at the crime scene, his testimony was expected to provide critical insights into the early stages of the probe. He was scheduled to appear in court on July 4.
Due to health issues Singh has already been unable to attend a court hearing on May 23. His deaths will delay in the high profile case.
At the most recent hearing, Singh was one of three primary witnesses listed to testify, along with Sidhu Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh, and police official Sukhpal Singh.
