Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu stated that this is a pilot project, with 80 lights being installed in the first phase. He said the government is now focusing on enhancing the city’s aesthetic appeal. The Municipal Corporation (MC), Mohali, has initiated the installation of ornamental poles and decorative streetlights along major roads.
Thes ornamental poles will be 8 meteres tall and these poles will be installed along the central verge of the road and these poles have decorative lights in both sides.
Previously, the MC had installed similar ornamental poles and decorative lights in some of Mohali’s key markets. These installations received positive feedback for their aesthetic appeal, although they are notably shorter than the new street lights being introduced on the main roads.
