Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann announicng new campgain on Friday against drugs and directed Commissioners of Police, Deputy Comissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police to make the Punjab Drug-free wih in three months. He said there is no shortage of funds to tackle the menace.
Meeting held after the government set up a group of ministers to lead the” Yudh Nasheyan Virudh” Campaign. This committee has five members chaired by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, New and Renewable Energy Minister Aman Arora, Health Minister Balbir Singh, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and Industries Minister Taranpreet Singh Sond.

During the meeting CM Bhagwant Mann said that government has a zero-tolerence policy against drugs. He also announced plans to set up special courts to ensure speedy trials and convictions in drug cases.
CM Assured full support and cooperation to the Police and civil administration, CM said there is no financial constraints in the fight against drugs. Mann also announced that drug peddlers and their families would no longer be eligible for government subsidies, including free electricity and water, as a deterrent against the crime.
