Few days back pirates attempted to release Punjabi movie, Kaum De Heere, which is banned in India, on video sharing service/website YouTube. The movie was reportedly watched by thousands of people with in few hours of uploading.

The producers of the movie responded quickly and get the pirated version of Kaum De Heere removed from the YouTube.

Now, just few days after that the film is available for download on Torrent websites. According to information the movie version on Torrent sites is yet another pirated version of the much-awaited movie that has been facing ban in India because of political reasons.

Technical experts believe that it would not be easy for the producers of the movie to get the movie removed from torrent sites.

As compared to YouTube, it is difficult to get the pirated version of a video removed from Torrent sites. YouTube has specific policies against piracy therefore it is comparatively easy to check distribution of pirated material on YouTube, but torrent sites are some what different, as most of these sites are indulged in distribution of pirated material.

It may be recalled here that the movie Kaum De Heere was set to be released in February 2014 but it was denied clearance certificate by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in January 2014. After the initial ban the movie was released outside India in March 2014.

The movie was reportedly cleared by CBFC in July 2014 and it was set to be released on August 22, 2014. But the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the Ministry of Home Affairs again stalled the release of movie.

The movie is reportedly an attempt to bring the sacrifice of Sikh martyrs, Shaheed Beant Singh, Satwant Singh and Kehar Singh, on cinema screen. Trio had scarified their lives to bring down former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who had ordered bloody army attack on Darbar Sahib Amritsar and other Gurdwara Sahibs in June 1984. She was shot dead by Bhai Beant Singh and Satwant Singh on 31 October 1984.

Film producer Satish Katyal said the ban on the release of the film had caused him a loss of more than Rs 1 crore. He said the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was responsible for it.

“The film release was stopped by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on the ground of maintaining law and order in the state. They believed the film might trigger communal tension among Hindus and Sikhs. Meanwhile, the pirated version of the film has been released and many people have already watched it. I have not seen any communal tension in the state so far,” The Tribune quotes Satish Katiyal.

According to information the makers of Kaum De Heere have been attempting to get the the pirated version of the film removed from Torrent sites and the Internet.

Satish Katiyal said that their appeal with the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) was still under consideration. He expressed hope that Kaum De Heere would get clearance certificate.

The movie was banned on August 21 after the BJP leader Lakshmi Kanta Chawla wrote a letter to India’s Home Minister Raj Nath Singh asking them to stop the release of the film.
