PM Narendra Modi vsisited Jallianwala Bagh on Sunday and paid homage to the people killed in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919 and he said “coming generations will always remember their indomitable spirit”.
In 1919 hundreds of people were protesting in Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar peacefully against the Rowlatt Acts which granted the colonial administration repressive powers, were gunned down by British forces without any provocation.

Hundreds of people protesting peacefully against the Rowlatt Acts, which granted the colonial administration repressive powers, were gunned down by British forces without any provocation on this day in 1919 at the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar.
PM Modi wrote on X “It was indeed a dark chapter in our nation’s history. Their sacrifice became a major turning point in India’s freedom struggle,” he said.
