The Nepali Army has imposed a nationwide curfew from Wednesday morning to 5 pm to prevent any possible violence under the guise of protests and has imposed a curfew till 6 am the next day. The army warned in a statement that any demonstrations, vandalism, arson or attacks targeting persons or property during this period would be considered criminal activity and dealt with. It said that the prohibitory order will be effective across the country from morning to five in the evening and after that curfew will be in force till six in the morning on Thursday.

The army said that these steps are necessary to prevent possible incidents of looting, arson and other destructive activities under the guise of demonstrations. The statement said, “Rape and violent attacks are also a threat.” Keeping in view the security situation of the country, the restrictive order and curfew have been imposed.”
Hundreds of protesters entered Prime Minister Oli’s office demanding his resignation after at least 19 people were killed in police action during Monday’s demonstration against corruption and the government’s ban on social media, after which he resigned on Tuesday. The ban on social media was lifted on Monday night. However, the protests continued even after his resignation. Demonstrators set fire to Parliament, the President’s office, the Prime Minister’s residence, government buildings, offices of political parties and the houses of senior leaders.
