Jammu and Kashmir is once again in the grip of a natural disaster. Heavy rains and cloudbursts have caused havoc in many parts of the state. Especially in the Katra area, which is a major center of religious tourism due to the Mata Vaishno Devi temple, the situation remains extremely serious. Due to the rain, the land has slipped at many places in the mountains, causing huge loss of life and property.

Major accident on Vaishno Devi route:
So far 31 people have lost their lives and 23 people have been injured due to landslide on the way from Katra to Mata Vaishno Devi temple. This route is the main route for pilgrims, but now it is completely covered with debris. According to SSP Reasi, Paramveer Singh, rescue teams are deployed on the spot and relief work is going on at a fast pace. However, due to bad weather and continuously falling debris, the operation is facing difficulties.
Cloudburst causes rivers to overflow
Cloudburst was reported in many areas of Jammu late on August 26, after which local rivers and streams overflowed. Rocks, trees and mud came down with the strong current, due to which many houses were razed to the ground. Connectivity has been completely cut off in many villages and power and water supply has also been disrupted. Officials said that rescue operations are underway after the landslide near Ardhkunwari, which occurred around 3 pm.
