A big and tragic incident has come to light in Gujarat. A 43-year-old bridge over the Mahisagar river suddenly collapsed due to which many vehicles passing over it fell into the river. So far two people have died in this tragic incident while many others have been pulled out of the river safely. The rescue operation is still going on.
Bridge connecting Vadodara-Anand collapsed during heavy traffic
The accident happened at a time when there was heavy traffic on this important bridge connecting Vadodara and Anand. The sudden collapse of the bridge caused several vehicles, possibly cars and trucks, to fall into the Mahisagar River. In the pictures and videos that emerged from the scene, a truck is seen hanging dangerously on the half-broken bridge, which is telling the horror of the accident.
As soon as the information about the accident was received, the local administration and police team immediately reached the spot. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other rescue teams have also joined the rescue operation. The work of extracting the vehicles and people trapped in the river is continuing on a war footing. The injured are being taken to nearby hospitals immediately.
