Jagtar Singh Hawara, who was convicted in the murder case of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, has been acquitted in the 20-year-old case by the Mohali District Court. Jagtar Singh Hawara appeared through video conferencing today in this case. The court acquitted Jagtar Singh Hawara due to lack of evidence.

A case was registered against Jagtar Singh Hawara in 2005 in Kharar police station under the Explosive Substances Act and Arms Act, but neither did the police arrest Hawara at that time nor was any weapon recovered from him. Let us tell you that Jagtar Singh Hawara is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. It is also worth mentioning that Jagtar Singh Hawara has already been acquitted in two cases of explosives and treason in Chandigarh.
