Punjab Police has arrested farmer leader Jagjit Dallewal and other farmer leaders before they will reach at Shambhu for protest. Punjab Police on Monday remained active and on their toes for handling the situation after getting the reports of Samykut Kisan Morcha members reaching Shambu Police Station a day ahead of their scheduled protest.
Police detained farmers leaders at their house and they have put up special nakas at strategic points on the highways and link road.
The Malerkotla DSP (special) said special nakas were organised on the Ludhiana-Malerkotla, Malerkotla-Khanna, Ahmedgarh-Raikot and Kup-Payal roads.
On Saturday, the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (Bharat) and SKM (Non Political) had announced a protest outside the Shambhu police station on Tuesday, accusing the government of using repressive measures during the recent farmer agitation and demanding strict action against those responsible.
