The Government of India has amended its earlier order under which the deadline for the return of citizens of Pakistan through the Attari border to their country was set on April 30, 2025. According to the new directive, now Pakistani citizens will be able to travel to Pakistan through the Attari border until further orders.

This decision has been taken after the recent tension between India and Pakistan. Earlier, the Indian government had canceled visas for Pakistanis and ordered them to leave the country by April 30 following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 in which many people lost their lives.
However, now on humanitarian grounds and keeping in mind some specific circumstances, the Government of India has decided to extend this time limit. Under the new order, those citizens of Pakistan whose visas have expired or who were given a notice to leave India can now return to Pakistan through the Attari border till further government instructions.
This change will provide relief to those Pakistani nationals who were staying in India for various reasons and were worried about the April 30 deadline. The Government of India has clarified that this decision will only apply to people traveling to Pakistan through the Attari border and no other changes have been made in the visa rules.
