Indian Army jawan arrested on charges of espionage, was working for Pakistan’s ISI

Punjab Police has arrested an Indian Army soldier on charges of spying for Pakistan. The accused jawan has been identified as Devinder Singh, a resident of Nihalgarh in Sangrur district of Punjab. He has been caught from Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, where he was posted. Devinder is accused of sending confidential information and documents related to the army to Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.

Sent to police remand for 6 days

Devinder Singh was produced by the Punjab Police in the Mohali court, from where he was remanded for 6 days. Police are now questioning him about other suspects working for Pakistan.

Another accused young man was caught earlier

In this case, the police had earlier arrested Gurpreet Singh alias Guri alias Fauji, who himself has served in the army. The police claim that Gurpreet also used to send important military information to Pakistani agencies. He has been lodged in Ferozepur Jail since he was arrested on 1 April 2025 with 1 kg of heroin.

Contact was also going on in the jail

Police investigations have revealed that Gurpreet was in touch with his old army buddies despite being locked up in jail. During interrogation, he took the name of Devinder Singh, after which the police caught Devinder.

Since 2017, the two have a criminal nexus

According to reports, Devinder and Gurpreet first met in 2017 at an army training camp in Pune. After this both were posted simultaneously in Sikkim and Jammu and Kashmir. From there, the series of espionage for Pakistan started between them.

More arrests are possible

Police sources say that some more people may be involved in this spying network and more arrests may be made in the coming days. Security agencies are busy connecting the links of this entire network.
