A terrible accident occurred in Green Mountain Park, a popular entertainment place in the mountainous city of Taif, Saudi Arabia, in which 23 people were injured due to mechanical failure, many of them in critical condition. The incident took place on Wednesday evening, when a famous swing ‘360 degrees’ suddenly broke down among the people present in the park.
The swing broke in the air, there was chaos
‘360 Degrees’ is a large pendulum-style swing that swings left and right, placing riders in a curved gondola attached to a central pole. At the time of the incident, the swing was fully operational and many passengers were riding in it. Suddenly the central pole of the swing broke in two in mid-air. Before this, a loud crash was heard and then the gondola fell to the ground, with many passengers on board.
In the video that went viral on social media, it can be seen that the swing was going very well, people were shouting happily, but in a few seconds, everything became scary and dangerous. As soon as the pole broke, a part of the swing jumped in the air and the people present there and the nearby spectators started running in panic. Some people were trying to escape from the spot and some were helping the injured people.
More people were also injured during the accident
According to a Khaleej Times report, the pole broke after swinging at high speed and a part of it hit people standing on the opposite side of the swing, causing more injuries. Many people were thrown from their seats when the swing broke, while some were injured by the force of the swing when it hit the ground.
Emergency response and injured patients
As soon as the news of the incident was received, civil defense, police and medical teams immediately reached the spot. Many of the injured were treated on the spot, while most were taken to nearby hospitals. Officials confirmed that 3 of the 23 injured persons are in critical condition, but no deaths have been reported so far.
Taif governor ordered to close the park
The Governor of Taif, Prince Saud Bin Nahar, has ordered the immediate closure of this amusement park. A formal investigation has also been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident and to ensure that safety standards were followed.
