Heavy rains have been occurring in Punjab for the last several days, due to which many places and villages have been flooded. Along with this, Bhakra Dam along with Pong Dam and Ranjit Sagar Dam have increased the concern of the Punjab Government and BBMB. Sutlej, which has already reached near the danger mark, does not have the capacity to bear any more additional water, but on Tuesday evening the water level of Bhakra Dam was recorded at 1677.29 feet, due to which the flood gates of Bhakra Dam were opened by 5 to 7 feet.

Let us tell you that according to BBMB, the water capacity of Bhakra Dam is up to 1680 feet and the water level is 2.71 feet away from the danger mark. Due to the release of excess water in the Sutlej river, water has entered hundreds of villages situated on the banks of the Sutlej river. If the water coming into the lake does not decrease in the next 24 hours, a huge amount of water will be released from the additional flood gates of Bhakra Dam, which will cause devastation in many districts of the Malwa region of Punjab
