First, he made her drink alcohol… then gang-raped the dancer along with his friends, she saved her life by dialling 112.

An incident that shook humanity has come to light from Purnia district of Bihar. Three people gang-raped a dancer in Dagrua police station area. It is alleged that criminal minded Mo. Junaid lured the girl from Neva Lal Chowk and took her to his garage in Dagrua.

In the garage, the girl was forced to drink alcohol and was made to dance. During this time, Junaid’s friends started reaching there one by one. Late at night, in an inebriated state, the three gang-raped the girl. After the incident, Junaid’s friends fled from there, while Junaid locked the garage from inside and slept.

When the situation worsened, the girl herself called the police.

During the night, the girl’s health began to deteriorate. Somehow, she called 112 from Junaid’s mobile phone and narrated her entire ordeal. The police traced the call and raided the Zoya Traders Garage in Dagrua and rescued the girl. The inebriated Mohammad Junaid was also arrested from the spot.

The police admitted the victim to Purnia Medical College for treatment that very night. Purnia SP Sweety Sehrawat said that the main accused, Mohammad Junaid, has been arrested, while raids are continuing to search for his two other accomplices.

The main accused has already been jailed.

According to reports, Mohammad Junaid has been jailed several times before. He is said to have a criminal record. Surprisingly, Junaid’s wife is the deputy head of the Dagrua Panchayat. Upon receiving news of his arrest, Junaid’s supporters created a ruckus outside the Dagrua police station. It is alleged that the victim’s lawyer was also manhandled during the incident.

Allegations of involvement in prostitution, old cases also surfaced

Meanwhile, more revelations are emerging about Junaid’s dark deeds. It is alleged that he ran a gang involved in the prostitution of girls, whose network extends into the Katihar Mod police station area. A year ago, a young woman from Simrahi, Araria, was similarly held hostage in an old vehicle garage in Belauri. In that case, the victim freed herself by calling 112, but no concrete action was taken.

Political response and further action

Purnia MP Pappu Yadav has launched a scathing attack on the government over the entire incident. He said that criminals have lost their fear of the police and Bihar is in the grip of drug abuse, leading to a steady rise in incidents like rape.

Currently, the police have formed a special team to apprehend Junaid’s absconding associates and are conducting raids at several locations. The victim is under police protection with her mother, and further legal proceedings are underway.
