Filmmaker Mangal Dhillon to Make Docudrama on Holocaust of June 1984

Amritsar 5 Feb 2015: Punjabi film-maker Mangal Dhillon has announced to make a documentary on June 1984 army attack on Darbar Sahib (Harmandar Sahib) Amritsar.

Mangal Dhillon is writer, producer and director of the documentary that is titled as “Saaka Neela Tara” (Operation Blue Star).

While addressing a press conference at Amritsar, Mangal Dhillon said his documentary would be based on eyewitness accounts.

“The purpose of this documentary is to view this historical tragedy from an unbiased perspective and educate the coming generations about the roles that the army, police, administration, media, political leaders, public, mediators and militants played in the run-up to the siege and thereafter,” he stated.

“Distortion in Sikh history has caused differences but I feel that it is basic right of our coming generations to know the truth. Many people have tried to write down the facts with their own point of view. Many have shown this through digital media. However, they presented the history by carrying subjective approach. Motive of our film will be to present the whole episode by maintaining objectivity”, SikhPortal.Net, an online news portal, quotes Mangal Dhillon as saying.

The film is not going to be made in commercial point of view. It is a little effort to reach the hidden facts related to the episode, he reportedly added.
