Earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi, the capital of the country, on Monday morning. According to the ‘National Center for Seismology’, the intensity of this earthquake that occurred at around 8:44 am was 2.8 on the Richter scale. Its center was found about 5 kilometers below the ground in the area of North Delhi. It is a matter of relief that no loss of life or property has been reported due to the reduced intensity.

Earlier, the Kutch district of Gujarat also experienced tremors during the night between Friday and Saturday. The intensity of the earthquake there was much higher than that of Delhi, i.e. 4.1. People were very scared and came out of their houses due to this shock that came at around 1:22 AM. The epicenter of this earthquake was 55 km away from Khawada in the north direction. The area of Kutch is considered very sensitive to earthquakes, because the memories of the devastating earthquake of 2001 are still fresh in people’s minds.
The scientific reason behind this underground movement is hidden in the structure of our earth. Actually, there are 7 big tectonic plates inside the earth which are always rotating at a slow speed. When these plates rotate and bump into each other or rub against each other, a huge amount of energy is generated there. When this energy tries to escape, we feel vibrations on the ground above, which we call earthquakes.
