Bollywood’s resident Mr Conviviality turns a ripe young 79 on December 8.Dharmendra celebrates birthday with Geeta Basra, Gippy Grewal, Tina Ahuja. Speaking from Jalandhar where he has been stationed for the past month, Dharamji said, “Is it really 79 years? I never knew when so much time flew by. All I know is, I’ve earned a whole lot of love and affection from people throughout the years. And that’s my greatest gift. Beyond that the stardom and success are things I never took seriously. I never cared about who was no.1, no.2 or no.3 as long as people continued to love me.”
While the shooting of Punjabi film Second Hand Husband was in progress at Jalandhar, Punjab on Monday morning, congratulatory messages started pouring in. However, real dhamaalstarted when the crew members, including actor-cum-singer Gippy Grewal, Govinda’s daughter Tina Ahuja and Geeta Basra along with others organized a cake cutting ceremony. They also sang a birthday song for the legendary star. “I feel blessed to be with all the great people around,” said Dharam garam as he brandished the knife to slice the white pineapple cake.
However, Deol family support and wishes reached the actor last night only, as, we hear, Sunny, Bobby, Hema Malini, Esha and Ahana had wished him. Also, Hema wished him on Twitter, specifying in a tweet that thoughts are all with him as he is shooting in Punjab.
Dharmendra said, “The best gift I get is in the form of well-wishers and friends. And if you say I am away from my home on my birthday, I will not agree. I am in Punjab and this is my real home.” He said he plans to continue working.
