Patiala 12 Jan 2015 :Tension prevailed in Rajpura town when a group of Sikhs asked a Dera Sacha Sauda follower to remove the poster of movie ‘MSG: The Messenger of God.’
Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is playing a lead role in the movie scheduled to be released on January 16. However, no one was injured during pandemonium as the police reached on time. The police used mild force to disperse the crowd.
The movie has been drawing flaks from Akal Takht, the highest Sikh temporal seat, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and several other Sikh organisations since its trailer was released in December.
The Sikh bodies are demanding a ban on the movie as they believe that the movie may portray the Sikh community in poor light.
Yaspal Sharma, assistant inspector of police, informed that Raj Kumar, a dera follower, claimed that some Sikhs threw stones to tear the film banner installed atop the terrace of his residence.
“The complainant told police that a group of people also asked him to remove the poster at the earliest and threatened to face dire consequences, if he failed to do so,” the police said.
However, Sharma said the group fled when the police reached the spot. Meanwhile, the police had detained one person on the basis of suspicion, but later released him. “The security has been beefed up in the area to avoid any untoward incident,” the police said.
