Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has given a big gift to the people of Punjab by wishing them Happy Independence Day. Addressing the public after the ceremony of hoisting the national flag during a state-level program in Faridkot, he said that 80 percent of the people who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle were from Punjab. We have got the passion to sacrifice our lives for the country from our Gurus. It is because of the great sacrifices of the martyrs that the country is independent today.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab had to bear the most pain of partition. Today Punjab is on the path of progress. He told that in the tenure of one and a half years, the Punjab government did something which never happened after independence. Every family in Punjab is being given health insurance up to 10 lakhs, which will be implemented from October 2. There is no need to fill any form, no major work has to be done, just have to carry Aadhar card and voter card. He told that 552 private and all government hospitals are associated with this scheme, while the process of adding 500 more hospitals is going on. If someone in the family falls ill, then all his medical expenses will be borne by the Punjab government. Everyone is included in this scheme, there is no income limit, no special category, it is only necessary to be a citizen of Punjab. About 3 crore people of Punjab will get the benefit of this scheme. Apart from this, 881 Aam Aadmi clinics are running, where about 70,000 people are getting treatment every day. 200 more clinics are being opened.
The Chief Minister further said that Schools of Eminence are being opened. Children have started giving results in three years. He is happy to inform that Punjab was at 29th position in the National Achievement Survey 2017 of the Government of India, while in 2025 it will be at the first position. Punjab has also left Kerala behind. Earlier Kerala was at the first position, but now we have left it behind. The Chief Minister said that girls have been at the top every year in the results of class 8th, 10th and 12th. Faridkot’s promising student Navjot Kaur secured first position in the entire state in class 8th, while Faridkot’s Aksnoor secured first position in class 10th. Daljeet Kaur of the same district secured second position in class 12th.
