Friday( 15/8/2014) on the Independence day, my heart is sad, because i feel, i can not show my movie in India. Yesterday, the trial show for Censor Committee was held in Mumbai and after the screening, the committee told me unanimously, that the movie is not fit for public viewing and therefore, they can not grant a certificate to the movie. They said that they can not consider any cuts to the movie as they fear the movie can incite riots again. I tried to reason with them, that we are showing what had happened in 1984 and it is available on the net and it is just a fictional story based on true events and inspired by the life story of Bibi Jagdish Kaur, but they refuse to listen. They said, “the matter is in the court, so it may influence the judgement and also the movie shows the events, which you claim are real, so we can not grant the certificate to this movie” and walked out. They pointed out a scene, where a Turban of a Sikh is removed after killing him…but i said…the pic is available, where a Sikh is pleading with the ppl, and his turban has been removed from his head and he is with folded hands with tears in his eyes, but they said..you can not show them in the movie, it may be available on the net. So likewise, there are so many events, which they have objection to. Now friends..i feel..we will get chance to stand by the victims and even after 67 years of Independence, i got this present from the Censor Board. Now it is up to you to decide, what to do. I appeal to all the people, who are with the Victims and feel for them and stand by them and wish to see them getting justice, COME LETS JOIN HANDS AND RAISE OUR VOICE, so that we get the censor certificate to show the movie to the masses. Lets begin the agitations worldwide in protest. I am going to organize a press conference before i leave for Promotional campaign in UK/CANADA/US/AUSTRALIA and will appeal the local media to join me in the fight for justice.
