The Mexican Navy confirmed the incident
The Mexican Navy has officially confirmed the incident by issuing a statement. The Navy said its training ship, the Kuoutemok, had collided with the Brooklyn Bridge. The statement further said that the Navy and local authorities are jointly investigating the incident. Along with this, the condition of the personnel on board and the ship’s equipment is being assessed and all possible assistance is being provided to them. The Mexican Navy also reiterated that they are fully committed to the safety of their personnel, transparent operations and the high level of training of future naval officers.

‘Cuoutemoc’ is a special training ship of the Mexican Navy whose main purpose is to provide practical training to Navy cadets through sea voyages. The ship departed the port of Acapulco on April 6 on a long training mission with a total of 277 personnel. During this mission, the ship had to stop at 22 ports in 15 countries, including major cities such as Kingston in Jamaica, Havana in Cuba, Cozumel in Mexico, New York in America, Reykjavik in Iceland, Bordeaux and Dunkirk in France, and Aberdeen in Scotland.
The duration of the entire mission was 254 days in which 170 days were scheduled to be spent at sea and 84 days at various ports. Now what will be the effect on this training mission after this unexpected collision will be seen.
