Four people were killed and at least 20 others injured in a shooting at a crowded bar on an island in the US state of South Carolina, officials said. The shooting occurred early Sunday at Willie’s Bar and Grill on St. Helena Island, officials said.
He said that when sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, a large crowd was present and they found several people suffering from gunshot wounds. “Many people ran to nearby establishments and properties to escape the gunfire,” the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on the social media platform ‘X’.
“This is a tragic incident for everyone involved. We request your patience as we continue to investigate this incident. Our thoughts are with all the victims and their loved ones,” the statement said. Four people were found dead at the scene, and at least 20 others were injured. Four of the injured are in critical condition and have been taken to area hospitals. The identities of the victims have not been released.
