Aug 8, 2014//A treaty between India and Canada has been signed on July 1 to unfold the tragic incident of Komagata Maru. Komagata Maru was a Japanese ship hired by a Malaysian Sikh, Gurdit Singh in 1914 to sail to Canada with 376 Indians on board against the racist laws. But the passengers were not allowed to disembark the ship and after two months they sailed back to India where 20 were shot dead by police.
A Canadian source said” It would now be a $22 million Indo-Canadian production by a well-known Hollywood director. It will have one top Indian actor playing a Sikh. We want Mr.Bachan for that role. One top Japanese actor and one Hollywood actor, besides that many prominent actors from China and the US”. According to the treaty, filmmakers from both the countries would be at a liberty to produce the film because both the countries are involved, exempting the taxes.
This is a long stranded project and will be the first beneficiary of the joint treaty. Deepa Mehta, Canada-based Indian filmmaker, was to direct the project initially with Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar in lead but will be directed by some Hollywood director. Eros International will be the Indian producer and co-scripted by Vinay Virmanim, a young-Canada-based Indian actor.
But we should remember the case proceeded against Amitab Bachan
The Indian Bollywood star has shown his true colors, his Sikh fans should be aware of his involvement during the anti-Sikh riots in November 1984, when 20,000 (according to the BBC) were murdered,Charges against Amitabh Bachchan
