Cindy Rodriguez Singh, one of America’s most wanted criminals, has been arrested in India. The US investigative agency FBI (FBI) confirmed on August 20 that 40-year-old Cindy has been captured in India. He faces felony charges including the murder of his 6-year-old son Noel Rodriguez Alvarez, evading the law by false pretenses and being an international fugitive.

Who is Cindy Rodriguez Singh?
Cindy Rodrigues Singh was born in 1985 in the state of Texas, USA. She is from Dallas and has long been on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted list. Cindy is accused of murdering her son Noel, who was last seen in October 2022. However, she was reported missing several months later, in March 2023. The investigation revealed that Cindy had misled investigators by claiming that her son was with his biological father in Mexico.
How did the case unfold?
When the Texas Department of Child Welfare contacted the local police for a welfare check on Noel, it was found that there was no clear evidence of the child’s presence. After this the case became serious and the investigation agencies stepped up their action.
Conspiracy to escape to India
According to the FBI report, Cindy was married to a man named Arshdeep Singh and had a total of 7 children with him. But when she planned to leave America, she boarded a flight to India with only her husband and six children – Noel was not with her. On October 31, 2023, a Texas court filed formal murder charges against Cindy and a federal arrest warrant was issued in November.
Rs 2.17 crore reward for arrest
The FBI initially offered a reward of $25,000 (approximately ₹21.75 lakh) for information leading to Cindy’s arrest, which was increased to $250,000 (approximately ₹2.17 crore). This reward moved him further up the FBI’s wanted list.
How was the arrest?
Cindy was arrested in a joint operation by the FBI, US Department of Justice and Indian investigative agencies. Former FBI officer Kash Patel said this is the fourth time in the last 7 months that a top 10 wanted criminal has been caught. He attributed this success to international cooperation and hard work of field agents. Now the process of extradition of Cindy to America will begin, where she will have to face the charges of murdering her son, leaving the country illegally and conspiracy to escape from court.
