Due to bad weather, the Amarnath Yatra was suspended from Jammu for the second consecutive day on Friday. According to officials, no new pilgrim group was allowed to proceed towards the Amarnath cave temple located in the South Kashmir Himalayas. Devotees coming from outside will be sent to Pahalgam and Baltal base camps only after reviewing the weather conditions, for now they have been stopped at the heavily guarded Bhagwati Nagar base camp.

It is noteworthy that during this 38-day long Yatra which started on July 3, more than four lakh devotees have visited the ice lingam in the holy cave situated at an altitude of 3,880 meters. The Yatra information officer said, “Due to bad weather, the Yatra to the Amarnath cave temple from Jammu has been postponed today. No new group has been allowed to proceed beyond Jammu.” This is the second time the Yatra has had to be stopped from Jammu. Earlier on July 17, the Yatra was cancelled due to heavy rains at both the base camps in Kashmir.
